ENROLLMENT OPTIONS


PIANO TRANSITIONS
Two 17-week semesters of 45-60 minute classes include singing, chanting, moving, responding to musical patterns, creating at the keyboard, and playing short pieces.  Activities are developmentally appropriate for Preschoolers and Kindergartners.  Classes help students organize the sounds of music using syllables, imitate musical patterns accurately, sing in tune, move with the beat, and develop beginning piano technique and keyboard skills using rote instruction.  Piano book with CD is included.  Q & A - Piano

PIANO LESSONS
Two 17-week semesters of lessons (minimum 40-minutes of instruction) train musicians who can hear what they play and play what they hear. Lesson activities apply what research says about how children best learn music and encourage students to listen, think, move, sing and PLAY. Students entering first grade and above enroll in piano lessons. Q & A - Piano

GROUP LESSONS
Monthly group lessons during the semester give students an additional opportunity to develop their musicianship. Instruction is individualized within a diverse peer group setting.  Activities focus on audiation/notation skills and keyboard performance skills.  Group lessons will be offered on your child's normal lesson day.

ADULT PIANO EXPLORATION
For parents who would like instruction that will help them better understand our curriculum, six Saturday lessons are available first or second semester.

Piano Transitions Fall Party for Preschool/Kindergarten students - Saturday, October 25, 2007
Piano "Informance" with opportunity for parents to participate in class activities and ask questions

Christmas CDs recorded by students with additional copies available for gifts.

Piano Student Spring Recital - TBA
    Formal presentation of  Book 1 and beyond piano lesson students followed by punch and fellowship.
    Raybrook Manor Friendship Room Raybrook Friendship Room map
    Students will be divided into smaller performance groups to keep recital length manageable for young children (sign up for your choice of time).
    Opportunity to rehearse on the Raybrook Friendship Room piano will be offered Saturday, May 9- 8:30-11:30 (sign up for your time preference-6 students/half hour)

PIANO LESSON PROCEDURES

Arrival Information
  • At Home Studio, park in street or either side of driveway.  Use the front door.
  • At Home Studio, ring doorbell before entering house.  First student of the day should wait for teacher to answer the door.  Others should walk right in and down to the piano studio.
  • At Home Studio, use the boot tray and hall tree for coats, boots, and shoes.
  • Use the restroom before class.  Wash hands.
  • Enter piano studio even if other students are finishing their lesson.
  • A 10-minute grace period is extended for late students when instructor has no other lessons scheduled.
Parent/Sibling Waiting Options
  • Drop off student and come back later for pickup.
    • Pick up student inside the piano studio.
    • Alternative arrangements (students waiting for pickup by the door) must be made with teacher.
    • Studio locations near near grocery stores and pharmacies.
  • Stay and listen to lesson.....however,
    • Home Studio is sometimes very full with student group settings.
    • Many students respond better to instruction when parents are not present
    • Younger siblings are distracting.
  • Utilize parent/sibling waiting areas
    • Home Studio has a parent/sibling guest room next to studio (toys, books, desk available)
    • Church location has other comfortable waiting areas (but no nursery).
    • Put away toys/books in waiting areas before you leave.
